The department of Ariege has a wealth of torrents and rivers on which to practice canoeing, kayaking and rafting as well as hot dogging, white water swimming, kayak polo, etc.
Of the 2500 kms of water courses, 400 kms have been classified as practicable and accesable to white water sports.
Nuerous events, competitions and slections for national championships take place regularly in the Ariege.
